Westerly Hospital announces next Wednesday Wellness Program

WESTERLY, RI, January 22, 2018 – The next Wednesday Wellness Program at Westerly Hospital kicks off February 21 and will include six different presentations by members of the hospital medical staff.

All programs are held in the Henry J. Nardone Conference Center at Westerly Hospital. Each session is free, though seating is limited. To reserve a seat for one or more of the following sessions, call 1-800-636-2824 or visit westerlyhospital.org. The sessions in this program are:

February 21 – 5 pm
Suffering from joint pain?
Learn the answers to frequently asked questions when total joint replacement surgery might be your best option. Presented by Brad Green, DO, and Stephen Gross, MD, Orthopedic Surgery.

February 28 – 5 pm
The beating of your heart: Women and heart disease.
Learn more about prevention, diagnosis and treatment of heart disease in women. Presented by Rita Peter-Faherty, MD, Cardiology.

March 28 – 5 pm

Do you live with chronic neck and back pain?
Learn more about pain management and treatment options. Presented by Juan Bartolomei, MD, and Patrick Doherty, MD, Neurosurgery, and Adrian Hamburger, MD, and Timothy Olson, MD, Pain Management.

April 4 – 5 pm

Ten things you never knew about feet.
Learn more about care and treatment to keep your feet and happy and in tip-top condition. Presented by Sean A. Colsen, DPM, Podiatry.

May 2 – 5 pm
Thyroid disease is more common than diabetes and heart disease, often going undiagnosed.
Learn more about your thyroid and its effect on your energy level, mood, weight, osteoporosis, depression and more. Presented by Meredith McFarland, MD, and Stephen Phelan, MD, Endocrinology.

May 16 – 5 pm
“What was that?”
How aging impacts our vision and hearing. Learn more about diagnosis and treatment for macular degeneration, glaucoma, cataracts, hearing loss and more. Presented by David Rivera, MD, Ophthalmology, and Kathy Dreher, Certified Audiologist.

Westerly, RI (July 15, 2024) ꟷ Westerly Hospital recently accepted a donation of blankets for patients at the Smilow Cancer Hospital at Westerly from Valenti Subaru of Westerly and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Yale New Haven Health hospitals among 462 healthcare providers nationwide to receive the LGBTQ+ Healthcare Equality “High Performer” designation in Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s Healthcare Equality Index

New Haven, CT (May 17 2024) –Yale New Haven Health hospitals – Bridgeport, Greenwich, Lawrence+ Memorial, Westerly and Yale New Haven hospitals – have each received the designation of “LGBTQ+ Healthcare Equality High Performer” in the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s 16th edition of the Healthcare Equality Index (HEI).
