How and where can I pay my hospital bill?

You can pay your bill in person at The Westerly Hospital’s Cashier’s Window located on the first floor behind the Information Desk.  We accept cash, checks, and all major credit cards.  You can also send in your payment using the envelope provided with your bill.

How can I get an itemized bill?
For an itemized bill, call Patient Accounting at 401-348-3209 or 1-800-933-5960, extension 3209.

How do I read my bill?
A diagram explaining how to read your bill can be found on the back side of your billing statement.

What is an EOB?
EOB stands for Explanation of Benefits.  It is not a bill; it is a document provided to you by your insurance carrier that simply explains your insurance coverage by listing the various tests, procedures, and other services that you received.

Why did I receive more than one bill for my hospital stay?
During your hospital visit, the hospital and other healthcare providers were involved with your care.  You may have had a variety of tests, procedures, and other services.  Your bill reflects all of the services you received during your stay including room and board, nursing care, and other services. You may also have had certain tests or treatments and may receive a bill from doctors or healthcare providers you did not see in person, but who participated in diagnosing and interpreting your test results while you were a patient in the hospital.  May of these services are performed by healthcare providers who work in the hospital, but are not employees of the hospital.  They will bill for their services separately.

Does The Westerly Hospital Offer Financial Assistance?
The Westerly Hospital offers financial assistance to patients without insurance or those that may be underinsured. These services include payment plans, discount programs and prompt pay discounts. The Westerly Hospital also provides essential hospital care without charge to the uninsured with incomes up to 200% of the Federal Poverty Limits (and limited assets), and discounted care for incomes between 200% and 300% of the Federal Poverty Limits. For more information, please contact our Financial Services Department at 401.348.3624, Option 5 or 1.800.933.5960, extension 3624, Option 5.

Why have I been charged for telephone and television services?
For inpatient stays of more than 24 hours, a daily fee will be charged for the use of the telephone and television services. (Unlimited local calls, over 60 cable television channels).  For your convenience, you will not be charged for these services while you are in the hospital.  After your discharge, these charges will appear directly on your home telephone bill as "HOSP TEL CHG."  Long distance calls are your responsibility.  These are typically made using a calling card or by charging the call to your home telephone through a long distance, AT&T or MCI Operator.
